The Gift That Always Leads Back to the Giver

The Gift Isn’t The Point – Blog Series Part 5

Throughout this series, we’ve talked a lot about gifts.

The ones God gives.
The ones we open.
The ones we set down.
The ones we rediscover.

And if there’s one truth that threads through all of it, it’s this…

The gift was never the point.
The Giver is.

God has always been generous. From salvation itself to the quieter, more personal gifts He places inside us, everything He gives is meant to draw us closer to Him… not distract us from Him.

Salvation was never meant to be a moment we remember.
It was meant to be a life we live from.

Inside what God has already given you is more than you realize. More healing. More freedom. More trust. More obedience. And those layers only unfold when we stay engaged… when we keep opening the gift instead of placing it on a shelf.

Along the way, many of us stopped opening not because we stopped believing… but because we got tired. Fear crept in. Disappointment left marks. Comparison whispered lies. Exhaustion convinced us to conserve instead of trust.

And still… God remains patient.

Sometimes He reveals gifts in the dark.
Sometimes He asks us to pause.
Sometimes He invites us to hold loosely what we once held tightly.

None of those moments are failures.

They are invitations.

The gifts of God don’t expire.
They don’t disappear because of silence or struggle.
They evolve. They mature. They deepen.

And they always… always… lead back to the Giver.

So maybe this season isn’t about doing more.
Maybe it’s about reopening something old.
Or trusting God with a pause you didn’t understand.
Or simply returning to this prayer…

“God, I want You… not just what You give.”

Because the greatest gift He offers has never changed.

It’s Himself.

And when that becomes our focus…
every other gift finds its rightful place.

Here are 3 questions I will leave with you to reflect on from this gift series:

  • Is there a gift God has given me that I’ve placed on a shelf… not out of rebellion, but out of fear, exhaustion, or disappointment?
  • Where might God be inviting me to reopen something I thought was finished… or to trust Him with a pause I didn’t understand?
  • If I set my focus back on the Giver instead of the gift, what might shift in my expectations, my pace, or my willingness to surrender?
  • If God spoke something to you through this series, I would love to hear about it! Feel free to connect with me through email at integritydesignbyjanelle@gmail.com
